These are some of the photos i had to choose my final front cover picture from, i like these as they relate to my magazine's audience in the way that they are of a 16 year old girl wearing clothing from local well known shops such as topshop. I decided not to use these as i think the first and last one arent happy enough and give off more of a negative attitude which wouldnt set a good example to my auidence. I decided not to use the middle photo as i think her facial expression is too forced and her body looks quite awkwardly positioned.

I have chosen this photo out of my photoshoot for my front cover image because i think it is a well focused photograph so looks proffessional and up to the stanards of a magazine cover, also she is smiling but not too much so that it looks happy but not too childlike. I tried to keep the colours basic in the background and her clothing because i wanted to make my text on my front cover bright and stand out against it so using bright colours on her could clash with the text colour. I chose a female because i wanted my main target audience which is mainly female to be able to relate to her. I dressed her in a topshop leotard and an urban outfitters necklace so that girls could look at this magazine and if they have seen it before reconise that she shops in the same places as them, or it could give them ideas of sensible but fashionable ways to dress. I used a back drop and studio lighting in the studio to make this photo proffessional looking and the lighting gives a sort of airbrushing effect which makes her skin look clear and smooth.

  1. It would be good to see which photos you have selected/rejected and why. Also try to analyse your images in terms of connotations linked to your brand image - using media terminology.

  2. Remember, the final deadline is 8th February. I am expecting to see drafts of your layouts and evidence of other photo shoots by the end of this week... Make sure you leave plenty of time for designing and editing.
